Seriously!? What happened to June and July? They've come and gone and barely left any trace. So let's see what has happened in those two months........Well, we had the blessing of having a retired dad to help us build a third car to our garage, work, the older kids have been in summer camp and Reagan at a new daycare, work, camping twice, work, bear sighting, work some more, finish basement in old house by my awesome retired father in law, I should probably throw in some cleaning and dishes and laundry in here, Ian losing a pinky nail (details to follow), wedding planning (more details to follow), El Paso, Orlando, more working (why does this work thing keep interrupting) and now TA-DA it's August.
To elaborate on Ian's lost pinky nail. Which I might add is still lost. Anna and Ian are playing "babies" in our driveway. Our driveway is an up and then down and then back up again kind of driveway. The down part is where a very small creek flows. Ian is pushing Anna in the jogging stroller and can't even see over the handle bars. He is pushing her on the down slope and starts running and realizes that he is going too fast and can't stop. (Mike is seeing all this go down from the garage while I'm in the house with Kara and Reagan.) Mike yells stop - my ears perk up. Mike witnesses the stroller go down the creek; which is a 6 - 7 foot drop into the creek. Well, Ian being our only boy is attempting to be very heroic and does not let go of the stroller as it plummets down. So if you've had a physics class you know how a catapult works. Ian is literally catapulted forward. Mike screams my name and I haul a** outside as I see him lifting Anna (who's screaming bloody murder) and then Ian, who is soaked because he fell in the creek, is wailing the hurt cry. For those of you who have children you know they are "really" hurt when you hear a particular cry. As Mike's lifting them out he's shaking every limb to make sure there are no broken bones - which him being the only eye witness, he was for sure somebody was gonna be broken. As he hands me Ian he tells me to check his finger. I look down as I'm carrying him into the house and his pinky is super bloody. All the while he is screaming he wants a band-aid. I see a cut from his nail bed all the way over to the other side of his pinky and I'm assuming his pinky is cut straight in half. Now, I have no idea where an urgent care or even the nearest hospital is yet. I do however know where the fire station is. So I drive down to the fire station and they tell me to go to the doctors office in Conifer which is 20 minutes away. Long story that was not so short - no stitches but his entire pinky nail was ripped off in his heroic attempt to stop his sister from plummeting into a near death ravine.
To elaborate on the wedding planning: My sister, Marie, is getting married August 11th to a super cool dude, Brent. Super excited and I'll post pics after.
