Ahhh, sleep. We used to be such good friends. But now all you do is treat me like a bad friend and never come around when I need you most. Maybe one day we can reconnect and then you will realize what you've been missing. You'll think to yourself, why wasn't I there for Robin when she only needed an extra 15 minutes before her alarm went off? Or why wasn't I there for Robin when the rare moments that all of her children slept in til 7am, that she could sleep in til 7 as well.
Until we meet again......

Unbroken
I'm reading a book called 'Unbroken' by Laura Hillenbrand for a book club that I'm in. It's a WWII book about pilots that flew in some of the B-24's and I'm really enjoying. I can't explain much more of it because I'm only a quarter of the way in but wanted to post some of my thoughts so far because it really is a big part of who I am. My Great Uncle Edwin (my grandma's brother - mom's side) was in WWII but was sadly MIA somewhere over Italy. I believe he was only 19. He was never found. My mom has a lot of information about some of the guys that were on the plane with him, which plane, which battalion, etc. She even has letters that he wrote and his mom (my great-grandma Wanda) wrote to each other the short time he was in the service.
While I'm reading, I can't help but think that I'm going to come across his name or his battalion or someone that he flew with or knew. I found it very interesting that tens of thousands of deaths were from accidents or lost. That doesn't even count the ones that died in battle. So many sacrifices!
My heart goes out to all the men and women that fight and who fought for our country. The sacrifices and bravery have run through my family for decades. And still continue. Both on my mom's side and dad's side of the family. Great-grandpa, grandpas, dad, uncles, great uncle, cousins (one female) and my brother. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
I could go on but I'd probably just start sobbing uncontrollably and get my laptop all wet.
