My sisters and I threw a surprise 20th anniversary party for our parents this past Sunday. And we were successful!! They had no idea. It was obvious by mom's tears:) Thank you to friends and family that kept this hush-hush, that helped plan, brought food, quick diversion and for everything that made the party awesome! It's hard to believe that they've been married that long. They renewed their vows to each other in Cancun on the beach; just them. I am sure it couldn't have been more perfect. At the party we discussed what are some good "tips" for keeping a marriage/relationship working and I wanted to share them:
* Have separate bathrooms
* Have your own friends
* Always try and find a way to laugh/smile even in times of sadness
* Don't freak out at the same time
* Say "I love you!" everyday and mean it
* Give each other a kiss everyday
* Pick your battles (don't make mountains out of mole hills)
* Ignore all the above rules and do what works for you
Overall, it was a great weekend!

Kid gum
So, Kara has been asking us if she can have gum for a couple of months. "My friends are chewing gum." (so begins the my friends are "blank" so I should be "blank") So we had a couple of rules before introducing gum. She had to 5 years old and she had to stop sucking her thumb. The thumb thing wasn't even that big of a deal, she only sucks it at bedtime. And really the 5 year mark wasn't even that big of a deal either. I just wasn't ready for gum under the bed, in the hair, in my van:) So she's been asking and asking when she gets "kid gum". After much hesitation, I bought her some Extra bubble gum. The minute she put it in her mouth, she had a perma grin until she spit it out about 20 minutes later. Watching her chew the gum honestly brought a couple of tears to my eyes. I can't express why I felt that that was such a grown up thing and that I am not ready for her to grow up. But she looked so stickin cute chewing gum!

Bloom!!
What a beautiful day! Our day began with a scrumdidilyumptious breakfast with family, followed by an egg hunt out in the backyard, nap time (equals quiet time for Mike and I), then starting our garden! Hopefully this year will turn out a little better for some of our seeds. Last year, we started a lot of seeds too late (first of June). We started to getting frost right when our cherry tomatoes starting coming:( Ending the evening with a movie. Happy Easter everyone!
From Mike: Thanks for understanding the switch to this site everyone. It will be much easier for Robin to update with pictures etc. so hopefully everyone will like it. Thanks!

More petri
So, if anyone knows where to find bubbles; please let me know. I would like to keep my children in them. Not only to protect them from the craziness that is going on in the real world, I want to protect them from germs. We took Ian to the emergency room this past Sunday. It was non-stop coughing from 630 in the morning til we got him there. His blood/oxygen levels were in the 80's and they are supposed to be in the 90's. We had to spend the night in the hospital. It was so sad to see him with an IV. He was a trooper tho. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and another ear infection. Got him on some antibiotics and the 2nd day he's chasing his sisters and Scooter like nothing ever happened. So thankful he bounced back so quickly. Thank you for this experience but I will pass the next time:)
