I've noticed that the kids have been a little ungrateful lately so I thought we would do some good deeds. I'm hoping to teach the kids that it's always better to give than to receive. So we baked some cookies and drove up to a local fire department. We told them that we were new to the neighborhood and that we were doing some good deeds and thanked them for all they do for our community. And Ian sayed "And we hope we never have to call you." We did talk about that:)
They were so thankful that they gave us a tour of the fire station. Ian was off and running and kept asking where the red fire truck was. We had red fire trucks near our old house. I think he was a little disappointed because all of their emergency vehicles were yellow:) So after our tour, we loaded up in the truck and left. Right before we could leave the parking lot, one of the firemen came running up to the truck with t-shirts and fireman hats. How can you tell a fireman no!? This was supposed to be a lesson to the kids that you give and not get anything back. But I couldn't tell a fireman no. I think it's against a rule or something.
So we accepted the gifts and thanked them. When we returned home I told the kids that sometimes when you give you get more in return.
Lesson learned?? Hopefully:)
