Ian started summer camp today at Free Horizon (the school we go to). We got him a backpack, lunch bag, and a water bottle and loaded it up with their checklist of items necessary for this 6 week fun-filled summer adventure.
We walk in the door and he is already running around checking the room out. He starts opening cabinets and drawers and asks me where the toys are. I tell him they don't have any toys at school - "Oh." I tell Kara (she is attending summer camp there as well) that I need her to help watch Ian until they get their morning started. I give them both their hugs, kisses, and have a great days and start walking out the door.
Ian chases after me and says "Mom, I gotta tell you sunthin," which is not anything unusual. He always has "sunthin" to tell me. So I squat down to his level and he whispers in my ear "Mom, I love you." I was already struggling with emotions because my son is finally in school and he just layed the frosting on so thick my eyes fill.
Thank you Ian for making your first day a memorable one for your mommy.
