Kiddo update

I thought I'd post a few things about the kids on what they are up to these days.

Kara has become quite the reader.  That is pretty much all she wants to do is read her chapter books.  She is in ballet and loves that too.  She prances around the house on her tippy toes and points her fingers the way ballet dancers do.  She enjoys school - for the most part.  Some days she says that school is boring and some days she says school is too hard:)

Anna is also in ballet and really enjoys that.  She keeps saying she wants to do soccer so we might be signing her up for that soon.  She works hard at school and loves to color when she gets home.  She is starting to read, if we can keep her sitting down long enough:)  Her and Kara love playing dolls together.

Ian is a spunky two and half year old boy.  He LOVES trucks, cars, trains, and pretty much anything with wheels.  All car rides are never quiet and if by chance there is a split second of silence, his voice will be sure to pipe in screaming firetruck or big truck or big tractor or something:)  He loves coloring in his racecar book.  He loves playing hide n seek.  Him and Anna enjoy doing this enormous firetruck puzzle.

With the help from a good friend, I've created a chore chart and it seems to be working wonderfully!  I love seeing the kids' beds made.  I love hearing them say "mommy, I want to go clean my room for some tokens."  The kids each have their own chart with a few items that they are required to do everyday - getting dressed, making their beds, etc.  Then we have "chore sticks" that the kids can choose to do (or not do) to earn extra tokens - cleaning their room, vacuuming, wiping off the table, etc.  They get to turn the tokens in for things - chocolate milk with their dinner, date with one of their favorite people, a play date with a friend, staying up an extra 30 minutes past their bed time, etc.

They can also lose tokens by being naughty.  Which they don't like losing tokens but that hasn't deterred them from being naughty.  But at least things are getting done around the house now:)
